The rules
Three-cushion: your cue ball must hit both other balls and touch the cushions at least three times before it reaches the second ball.
One-cushion: at least one cushion before the second ball. Straight rail: just hit both balls.
You keep shooting while you score. A miss passes the turn. White is player one, yellow is player two, red is the object ball.
On the break the red ball must be hit first.
Real physics
Balls slide, then roll. Hit low for draw, high for follow, dead centre for a stun shot.
Side spin changes the angle off the cushions, and friction between the balls causes throw on cut shots.
The cushion nose sits above the ball's centre, just like on a real table, so spin and speed shape every rebound.
Scoring terms
Inning: one turn at the table. Average: points divided by innings, the classic measure of a carom player.
High run (HR): the most points scored in one inning.
